The led light is very dim comparing to the modern led flash lights. You have to charge it at least once every couple month even if you dont use it. Because unlike lithium, lead batteries have relatively low internal reaistance and discharge themselves. My battery died after it was left outside in the winter on a cold night. To be honest im surprised they still make them and they look exactly the same as they did years ago and seems to be the same price too. Just last week, 2013 (?) Kia Soul with a dead battery. Tried our new Li-ion jumper -- click, click, one very slow crank, click, click.

I'm sure there are Li-ion packs that would have started the car, but we have never had any issue with either of our CT booster units. I would vote for low-tech if you don't mind the weight.
