I believe that a bereavement policy is important and should include an outline of what bereavement pay an employee will be paid or not be paid for but time off will be granted and for such as immediate family, extended family, friends and others(Pets, and any other person’s such as that the employee my of had some sort of relationship) The policy should also include if PTO can used for paid compensation or that taking certain PTO time such as vacation and sick leave is not allowed to be taken but the employee is allowed to take the days off.
